About MyCardRips

MyCardRips is an independent review and data site for traditional card-rip apps — the apps where you buy and digitally rip packs to receive real, professionally graded Pokémon, sports and TCG cards you can ship, vault or sell back.

Why we exist

Card-rip apps are growing fast and the marketing is loud. It is genuinely hard to tell which apps publish honest odds, pay a fair buy-back, and actually ship a real graded slab. We do the slow, careful work so you can spend with confidence, or decide not to spend at all.

We started as a review site. We still are one, but reviewing these apps properly turned out to require building a measurement operation underneath it: a card catalogue, a price index, and a reader that goes straight to the blockchain one of these apps settles on. Most of what follows exists because an opinion about an app is worth very little without the numbers to back it.

What we cover

  • 14 apps reviewed in depth, each scored against the same published eight-criteria methodology, plus 6 head-to-head comparisons.
  • 131 packs catalogued across 6 categories, each with its price, its published odds bands and the value range the app itself states.
  • 509 individual cards recorded from inside those packs, 489 of them with the certificate number printed on the slab, so any figure we publish about a specific card can be checked against the grader.
  • 2,328,174 on-chain events classified for Courtyard, which settles every pull, sale and instant buy-back publicly on Polygon. Our pull tracker reads those records directly rather than taking the app's word for them.
  • 180 graded cards tracked across 9 categories on the market movers page, refreshed weekly.
  • A card lookup covering every card in the catalogue, 11 plain-English guides, and a news desk that follows pack launches, price moves and buy-back changes across the category.

How we stay independent

  • No brand operates, sponsors or approves this site.
  • Rankings are editorial. Some outbound links may become tracked affiliate links to fund the work, but that never changes a score or position.
  • We fund our own test accounts and rip our own packs.
  • When a fact can’t be verified, we say so instead of guessing.

How we test

For each app we create a real account, complete KYC, deposit funds, and rip across pack tiers. We test the buy-back flow, request withdrawals, read the odds and terms, and — where possible — ship a slab. Pack screens are captured screen by screen, and the grades, values and certificate numbers on this site are transcribed from those captures rather than from any app's marketing copy.

What we will not publish

The rule that shapes most of this site is that a fact and an estimate are different things, and that a reader cannot tell them apart unless we do it for them.

  • A recorded price is a fact. One card, one amount, one timestamp, with a certificate number behind it. Those we publish.
  • A rate is a claim. Anything divided by time needs a window long enough to mean something. Our on-chain index currently spans 17 days, so per-day figures are published and labelled.
  • A figure without a date is not finished. Prices and odds move, so every number carries the day it was read and the source it came from.
  • Generated images are never evidence. Illustrations on this site are abstract by design. No generated picture is made to resemble a real card, a real slab or a real app screen, because the photographs are the product and a reader has to be able to tell which is which.

How current this is

Pack prices, odds and stock for Courtyard are read from its own data every six hours, most recently on November 2, 2026. The Polygon index runs hourly and the aggregates behind the pull tracker are rebuilt every six hours. Market prices refresh daily for the flagship category and weekly across all of them. Everything else carries its own "updated" date on the page, and where a capture is older than the live data, both dates are shown side by side rather than the older one being quietly replaced.
