What Boxed.gg is
Boxed.gg is a mystery-box site for Pokémon, Magic, One Piece, Lorcana, Riftbound and sports cards: you buy gems, spend them to open a box, and get one real card you can ship from its US facility — or sell back for more gems. Gems themselves never become cash.
Boxed.gg shows every drop table first and buys cards back at 100% of its own gem value. Its only cash exit is ETH.
Does Boxed.gg pay what the card is worth?
Boxed.gg buys any card back at 100% of its own stated value in gems (help center, September 18, 2026). A buy-back is the app’s offer to take a pulled card off your hands. On Boxed.gg, the sell-back is open at any time, with no fee named.
That headline leaves out two things a collector needs. First, the payment is gems, not cash. Second, Boxed.gg publishes no source or method for how it sets a card’s gem value.
So 100% of Boxed’s number tells you nothing about the card’s sold price. We have not measured Boxed’s gem values against matched sold comps yet. That test needs in-app valuations for at least 8 cards, matched on set, number, language, grader, and grade.
Three published rules shape what a sell-back is worth to you:
- Price protection. A green shield protects a card’s sell-back value for 7 days from the pull.
- Bulk limits. Bulk sell-back runs in batches of 200 items.
- Free box lock. Cards from a free signup box stay locked until you buy at least 500 gems.
Boxed.gg also runs Luckback, which credits shards whenever a pull is worth less than the gems you spent. Shards buy items in a separate Luckback Market and never convert back into gems. Boxed.gg built a feature for losing pulls, so plan your budget on that basis.
What Boxed.gg covers
Boxed.gg is a mystery-box site run by Loot Labs Inc of Seattle. Each box holds a pool of cards, and one open returns one card to your inventory. You buy gems first, and every box is priced in gems.
Sources: boxed.gg site paths and the Exchange help article, read October 30, 2026. Loot Labs’ October 7, 2024 press release also named Yu-Gi-Oh! The current help center does not mention that game, so we have left it off the table.
Scope note: Boxed.gg also sells CS2 skin boxes and runs Hop or Drop, a multiplier game. MyCardRips rates card products only, so this review leaves both out.
Compare every Boxed.gg pack
| Pack | Category | Price | Value floor | Max pull | Chance of breaking even |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| All Boxed.gg card boxes | All | — | — | — | — |
Boxed.gg shows a drop table on every box before you open it. The table lists each item and its chance, such as one card at 2%. We have not captured a Boxed.gg drop table yet, so every cell above is a dash.
Once we hold dated screenshots, this table will carry each box’s value floor and chance of breaking even. The chance of breaking even is your odds of pulling a card worth at least the box price, as our odds guide explains.
Our verdict on Boxed.gg
Boxed.gg puts its account rules in writing. Its help center covers gems, shipping, sell-back, KYC, and withdrawals. What Boxed.gg does not show is how its gem values compare with real card sales.
How ripping works on Boxed.gg
You buy gems, pick a box, and read its drop table. You can open 1 to 5 boxes at once, or run a free demo first. Each pulled card lands in your inventory, and results are final once an open completes.
From the inventory you can sell the card back, ship it, swap it, or display it. Boxed.gg allows no player-to-player sales, trades, or gifts. Every exit runs through Boxed.gg itself.
Pack tiers, odds, and value
Boxed.gg prices boxes in gems and values one gem at about $0.01. Standard gem bundles run $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, and $1,000. A custom purchase starts at 500 gems.
Every open uses a provably fair system: a client seed, a server seed, a nonce, and a salt. Boxed.gg shows a hash of the server seed before you play. The real seed appears 24 hours later, so you can check any result in your game history.
Vending machines sit above standard boxes on price and focus on graded cards, called slabs. A slab is a graded card sealed in a hard case. Boxed.gg states that it does not grade or re-grade any card.
Payments, buy-back, and withdrawals
Boxed.gg takes cards through Stripe, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay. It also takes BTC, ETH, USDC, and USDT, with a 1,000-gem minimum on crypto purchases.
Gems never turn back into cash. You have two real-world exits: ship the physical card, or withdraw value as ETH.
An ETH withdrawal needs four things on your account:
- Completed ID check.
- A phone number checked by text.
- An EVM-compatible wallet you control.
- Crypto access approved by Boxed’s Risk team.
If you have ever bought gems with a card, you must request that access separately. A first card purchase can also remove crypto access until the Risk team approves it again. Boxed.gg states that ETH withdrawals usually complete within about a day.
Is Boxed.gg legit?
Yes. Boxed.gg is run by Loot Labs Inc, a Seattle company founded in 2022 and backed by BITKRAFT Ventures, which led a $6 million seed round announced October 7, 2024. That brought Loot Labs’ total funding to $7.5 million.
KYC means the identity check an app runs before certain payouts. Boxed.gg uses Veriff and a physical government photo ID, and accounts are 18+ in every market. The ID check is required for ETH withdrawals and gem drops. Shipping a card to yourself needs no ID check.
Boxed.gg is blocked in Michigan, Washington, Louisiana, and South Carolina. Boxed’s help center calls this a regulatory restriction and names no statute. Using a VPN to get around the block breaks Boxed’s account rules.
The weak point is value, not legitimacy: gems are not cash, and Boxed.gg publishes no method for how it sets a card’s gem value.
Who Boxed.gg is best for
- Readers who check odds first. Boxed.gg shows each box’s full drop table before you spend a gem.
- Collectors who ship in batches. Up to 15 cards share one shipping charge within 24 hours.
- Magic, One Piece, and Lorcana collectors. Those categories sit beside Pokémon on Boxed.gg.
- Android and browser users. Boxed.gg runs in any modern browser and has an Android app.
- Wrong app for a cash buy-back. If you need cash for a pull, use an app we have measured — the Triumph review shows a measured cash buy-back.
Boxed.gg’s 2023 purchase terms say gems cannot leave the site
Boxed.gg’s Purchase Terms carry a “Last Updated” date of May 25, 2023. That version describes gems buying digital collectibles and loot boxes, including NFTs. It says gems “cannot be withdrawn, sold, transferred, or converted to fiat currency.”
Boxed’s help center, dated September 18, 2026, describes physical cards, a US fulfillment facility, and ETH withdrawals. Both documents agree on one point: gems themselves are never cash.
Two caveats we would rather state than bury. First, the full Terms of Service blocked our reader on October 30, 2026. Second, a newer purchase document can exist behind the login, and we could not see one.
Section 3 of the Purchase Terms calls the service “not a gambling service” in legal terms. The same section offers “no guarantee” that the service is legal where you live.
Shipping math: batch your cards or pay per box
Boxed.gg ships physical cards to 22 countries and territories from a US facility. You pay shipping in gems, per shipment, not per card. Up to 15 cards withdrawn within 24 hours share one charge.
| Destination | Gems per shipment | At $0.01 a gem | Gems per card at 15 cards |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States, Puerto Rico | 550 | $5.50 | 37 |
| Canada, Guam, United Kingdom | 1,000 | $10 | 67 |
| Most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand | 2,500 | $25 | 167 |
| Mexico | 3,000 | $30 | 200 |
| Spain | 3,500 | $35 | 233 |
Source: Boxed.gg shipping article, read October 30, 2026; per-card figures are MyCardRips math.
Shipping one US card costs 550 gems, about $5.50. Batching 15 cards cuts US shipping to about $0.37 a card. Boxed’s own example makes the same point: 5 cards sent separately to Spain cost 17,500 gems. Sent together, they cost 3,500 gems.
Boxed.gg commits to a ship date, not a delivery date, and offers no expedited option. Per its help center, cards ship within 2 to 4 weeks. US transit then runs 2 to 4 weeks. Slab and Marketplace orders add 3 to 10 days of processing. Our shipping guide compares the other apps.
Subscriptions sell gems at face value
Boxed.gg sells 4 subscription tiers, billed through Stripe. We divided each price by its monthly gems.
| Tier | Price a month | Gems a month | Cost per 100 gems | Exchange swaps a week |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plus | $24.98 | 2,500 | $0.9992 | 1 |
| Pro | $49.98 | 5,000 | $0.9996 | 2 |
| Ultimate | $199.98 | 20,000 | $0.9999 | 3 |
| Founder | $300.00 | 30,000 | $1.00 | 5 |
Source: Boxed.gg subscriptions article, read October 30, 2026; cost per 100 gems is MyCardRips math.
Every tier prices gems within 0.1% of Boxed’s stated rate of $1 per 100 gems. A subscription buys no discount on gems. The perk is extra Exchange swaps, which trade one item for another of similar value. With no subscription, you get 1 swap a week. Founder cannot be bought again once you cancel it.
Data confidence
Data confidence: Low overall. Flags:
- Dash cells: min buy, max pull, pack range, valuation source, withdraw min.
- Dash cells: pays vs market, fairness, break even, cards catalogued, and the full pack table.
- CONFLICT cells: withdraw speed and the Trustpilot review count.
Values are researched from official sources first. Anything we could not verify is shown as a dash rather than guessed. Figures we found in conflict are labeled rather than picked. Our how we rate page sets the method.
Withdraw speed is a CONFLICT inside Boxed’s own help center. One article says cards ship within 2 to 4 weeks of the order. Another gives 2 to 4 weeks of US transit after the ship date. A second help center conflict covers slab shipping. One article lists 22 destinations; another names only the US, Canada, and the UK.
Score honesty: Boxed.gg has no MyCardRips score yet, and this refresh does not add one. A score needs the full how-we-rate pass and owner sign-off.
Corrections. The October 26, 2026 version said Boxed’s official terms could not be checked. Boxed’s help center and Purchase Terms are now on record, and this page cites them. That version listed restricted states as not sourced; Boxed’s help center names 4 states. It listed KYC and crypto withdrawals as conflicts between third-party sites; Boxed’s own help center settles both. It listed web as the only platform; Boxed.gg also has an Android app.
